Personality Profile

A long time ago (in a galaxy far, far, away...) when Rob and I first began counseling (like 1999 or 2000 I believe) the first order of business was to take in depth personality profiles. Our counselor, Dr. Sigvertson, was wonderful in interpreting these from a standpoint of how we think as individuals, how we process events and situations, and how we relate and communicate to one another as a couple. It did wonders for our relationship at the time - when both of us were working towards the common goal of improving ourselves and the marriage.

It also helped me to deal with disappointments and future hurts as I understood how my mind works. And how that relates to my spiritual side. Dr. Sig is very talented at looking at the info and data clinically, then interpreting what it means through the Truth of God's Word. This information armed me to not only be better in my dealings with my intimate relationships, but co workers, acquaintances, and also my relationship with Christ. Once I understood MYSELF better, I didn't have to figure everyone else out! Amazing, huh?! LOL!

I learned enough from the years of counseling to know this: information is key. And any couple wanting to keep their relationship strong and healthy would do well to have this information in their toolbox - not to change and manipulate each other, but to understand, empathize and work cooperatively and respectfully with one another as we grow. That is why I was more than pleased when Steve agreed enthusiastically to take this same profile.

Last night we had a phone conference with Dr. Sigvertson as he refreshed me on my results and explained Steve's results to him. To summarize, the end result is that we are both almost perfect compliments! Our similarities were in resolution, not storage - we both were strong in our ability to eventually realize the difference between emotions/feelings and truth and choose truth. Dr. Sig was able to point out where conflict may occur due to our differences in processing and perception, and also help us start to think of ways to deal with those things in healthy, productive and proactive ways.

I am so excited about my future with this man! God is amazing. It's almost as if He designed Steve with me in mind! Isn't it wonderful how He loves us?
